LGD or Livestock Guardian Dogs are breed-specific guardians to protect livestock and/or property.
Our goal for our homestead is to preserve the natural essence of all life. Our LGD breeding program offers many attributes that others do not. I am very invested in this breed and my program.
I perform health testing on my dogs, but prefer a more extensive and conclusive test of the hips of my dogs. The PennHip test requires the dogs be sedated. I find it to be a more accurate test. The PennHip test results produce a number on a scale. The elbow scans are viewed and assessed by OFA certified professionals. The test results produce a "good" elbows or "not good" elbows.
I believe that even if these dogs are LIVESTOCK dogs, they are still dogs. They have feelings/emotions, especially this breed. This breed is sensitive. I personally think they are amazing, stoic, and instinctively they are great working dogs. They should be treated like part of the pack, especially as puppies.
