Our breeding LGDs are in a pen primarily with goats and chickens. Since we were not expecting more puppies this early in the year we had to improvise. It is very cold so we moved Mama to the barn and set up her whelping box in a warmer building.
Mama approves...she is on her back asleep.

Puppy Weights-
I weighed the puppies for the first time the evening of their birth day. In the beginning, I will weigh the puppies twice a week. Then, once a week. As the puppies get older, I will be weighing them either weekly or bi-weekly.
Puppy Deworming Schedule-
The typical schedule calls for Mamas to be dewormed at the beginning of their heat cycle and at 50-52 days of gestation. The typical schedule calls for the puppies to be dewormed at 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12 weeks.
Puppy Nail Trimming-
Each puppy's reaction will be different. Their first nail trimming will be done with a Dremel. I will start trimming their nails with their deworming.
